Smartpens

Livescribe 3 Smartpen:

Brief Description: The livescribe 3 smartpen is bluetooth compatible with any device running iOS7 (or newer): iPhone 4s (or newer), iPad 3rd generation (or newer), iPad mini(or newer), iPod touch 5th generation (or newer). This pen can record anything that has been written down onto special livescribe dot paper to be viewed later at any time on the iOS device being used or a computer. All notes that are written are transferred in real time to the iOS7 device. Along with the visual aspect the iOS device is recording any audio sounds that are occurring in the room. Therefore when playback of a certain part of the notes is requested any audio that was occurring during that time will be played aloud. This is a great tool for note-taking and studying for exams. For example, if a professor is talking to fast in class to record all of the notes at least all of the audio will be saved to reference back to at a later time. All notes can then be saved and organized into corresponding folders for classes. Smartpens can be integrated with the software Evernote to assist with staying organized with notes. Livescribe Echo Smartpen:

Brief Description:The livescribe echo smartpen does not work with an iOS device but does have the same features. This smartpen records audio using its own built-in microphone. When using the special livescribe dot paper it will record all audio and visual which can then be transferred to a laptop or desktop computer.  This transfer process requires a USB cord from the pen to the computer. Unlike the livescribe 3 smartpen, this process is manual. However, it provides the same beneficial features when it comes to note-taking and preparing for exams. It is also compatible with the software Evernote to help stay organized.
